From better buildings to better workdays
Our starts with a simple belief: the world needs better buildings. In 1997, Coen van Oostrom founded EDGE Technologies with this vision. It led to groundbreaking projects like The Edge in Amsterdam—the world’s greenest, smartest building with the highest BREEAM sustainability score ever recorded.
But creating better buildings was just the beginning. We wanted to transform how people work inside them.
We discovered that exceptional workspaces need more than sustainable design and smart technology. They need the human touch of hospitality. Just as boutique hotels perfect the art of care, we developed a service philosophy where attention to detail and personalized experiences transform ordinary workdays into opportunities to thrive. Our hosts don’t just manage operations; they master anticipatory service. Every interaction adds value. Every detail matters.
Starting in Amsterdam, we’ve thoughtfully expanded across European cities. Each location carries our commitment to hospitality, connection and sustainability while embracing its city’s unique character. Through this journey, we’ve kept asking one question: How can we create not just better buildings, but better workdays for the people within them, so that they can thrive?
Our journey
Edge
Initially called OVG Real Estate, the business started when a 27-year-old Coen van Oostrom decided to prioritize tenants over the land plot itself.
Sustainability
A Zero carbon footprint wasn’t enough – Edge went beyond and set sustainability as the main focus of all future developments. EDGE Workspaces inherited this value.
The Edge
The most sustainable and smartest office building of the world was built and officially awarded. This set the standards for the buildings we operate in today.
EDGE Workspaces
As subsidiary company of Edge, we were born to offer services and hospitality in healthy coworking areas, bringing a soul to Edge’s buildings.
EWS Olympic
Headquarter of both Edge and EDGE Workspaces, it’s where everything started for us. This is the place where we recognized the need of building a community for our tenants, not only a space.
Next Sense
Initially called EDGE Next, it was founded to offer a smart platform that gathers data to optimize the buildings’ performance and enhance the tenants’ experience.
Net Zero
Just like Edge, we are committed to reduce our carbon emissions to Net Zero by 2050. We want to challenge ourselves even further, drive the change worldwide, and inspire our tenants to take action now.
EWS Grand Central
In the heart of Berlin, the first German location is the real-life application of the concept “sustainability meets design and hospitality”. Neuroscientifically developed to unleash your true potential.
EWS Stadium
Our second location in Amsterdam – a few steps away from our HQ in Zuidas – continues the legacy of the sister building Olympic, offering the best service in a corporate but cozy setting.
EWS HafenCity
Our expansion brought us to Hamburg, where the location in the brand-new HafenCity district has taken on a more industrial & harbour design, without abandoning the warmth of the classic EWS design.
EWS Coolsingel & Eindhoven
Announced for Q3 2026, our two new venues in Rotterdam & Eindhoven will bring us – for the first time – two new locations in one year.
Expansion
Our plan is clear, and the path is set – we’re already searching and selecting new premium buildings to continue our expansion through Germany and the Netherlands. And maybe beyond.
